It's a Good Friday

Happy Easter to everyone! My oldest son arrived home yesterday from UCLA for the holiday and I grilled a few filets on my open flame wood burning grill. The wine I chose to drink was a 2012 Caymus Cabernet (just their regular offering not the Special Selection). Oh my goodness, it was pure cab heaven. This bottle celebrated the 40th anniversary of the famous cabernet maker. It scored a 96 by Parker and is highlighted by a very creamy mocha/vanilla flavor. A fantastic bottle from one of my favorite wineries. I have over 50 bottles of their cab and still have two more bottles of this vintage.

That said, one of my least favorite wine tastings was at Caymus - they are (or were back in the 90s) notorious for being real mad if you showed up late at scheduled wine tastings - pretty much just starting without you and skipping wines already poured. You snooze you lose and when they make the great wine they make the rules. Back then and probably still today, they never had a wine club. I always purchased their wines at the winery or at the stores. Their wines are usually easy to find and this 2012 was purchased at my upscale market (central market for my dfw followers). Cheers!
