Well today was the annual opportunity to watch my beloved Penguins hockey team in person (against Dallas - btw I also like the Stars). Pens blew a 2-0 lead after one and also blew their 10 game winning streak in the process losing 3-2. Still had fun though with my son Matt and catching up with a good friend and former co-worker Joan and her daughter Jackie (Joan is also from Pittsburgh).
Well last night I killed the whole bottle of JP Insignia over a five hour period. Our good friends the Bobo's came over and we were outside to almost 10pm burning wood, cigars and cigarettes. So tonight I open bottle #5 - a Star Merlot from Baer winery in the state of WA. I just recently started purchasing their wine as I believe Wine Spectator recommended their reds and they are reasonably priced. While I prefer their red blend (Ursa) I also can't pass up a good merlot. This merlot was only $35 a bottle so a rather reasonable price as I said. Nothing spectacular but a good solid wine to drink at night. Cheers
